Summer

In addition to my previous post, I've had plans to enhance my summer experience, as it will likely be my last "free" summer at least for the next four years.

The first such plan I intend to implement in the next coming months would be to listen to more music in my 2017 playlist on Spotify. Recently, I've gotten into what I consider as "retro" music, which consists of the classics: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, Guns n Roses, and more.
Even though I've taken a liking to the music mentioned above, I also want to stay up to date with the music popular today. That is why in this summer, I want to listen to Kendrick Lamar's new album and listen to more alternative music, which is my preferred music genre to listen.

Along with listening to more music this summer, I also want to go overseas this summer and visit new places that I have never been to before. This will be a transformative experience for me, because I have time, energy, and am free to explore famous and/or aesthetically beautiful areas without the burden of school. Hopefully I can go with my family to Iceland, because that island is just beautiful. Or, if I got the opportunity to go to cool countries like Singapore or Australia, I would totally be down for that too.

Every summer, that is the time where I can add to or cross off what I consider is in my bucket list. I have always wanted to go to a concert or multiple concerts for an extend period of time, such as Firefly. Since I am going to Firefly this summer, I am very grateful and so excited! As for things I want to my bucket list, I want to go visit historically relevant sites in the world, such as ancient temples, bazaars, or ruins. These include the centuries old (or in some cases thousands of years old) temples in the Southern India, the Indus Valley Civilization (the oldest civilization in the world) in modern day Pakistan, the Ganges River (considered the holiest river in India), and famous mosques in India.

Additionally, I have always wanted to get back into shape by running more, which is always a positive in the summer because I have more time in my hands and more energy to do activities without work lingering in the back of my mind. While I could run, I also want to delve into photography, since I have gotten into a liking into getting stellar photos in naturally beautiful places. Who knows? Maybe I can take photos when I do finish my bucket list at some point in my life.

Lastly, the most exciting thing about this summer is the fact that I can get ready for my adjustment to college this fall in Drexel University. I am very fortunate that I got the opportunity to go to this university, so getting the things ready for next fall will be by far the most cool thing ever.

Summer Plans and More

As this year is coming to a close, I have been increasingly excited with regards to the summer plans I might have before going to college. But before delving into that aspect, I want to talk more about my high school career as a whole. Because of the fact that I am part of Newark Charter High School's first graduating class, all my fellow classmates and I have known is being the "seniors" throughout our years in the building. Very soon that will change when we go to college as "freshies," in all the colleges we go to. That will be quite the change...

But first, before going to the colleges of our dreams, we have summer! And because we are graduating early, high school graduates will have extra time to themselves, which is an added bonus. As for me, my friends and I have been planning to go to a beach house for "senior week," a getaway where we can have fun playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, Diplomacy, and going out to play in beach itself! I hope that during this time, we can all have a good time before everyone goes off to college, because for a large part, many are going to far off places in the country.

Another event that I am really excited about for summer is the plan to go to the Firefly Festival this year with my sister and her friends. Because this is my first time going to Firefly, I will be seeing bands that I have been listening to this past year live. I can't wait to go and have a lot of fun with those that enjoy my taste of music, which would be really awesome. I'm going to camp outside for three days, eat overpriced pizza, and listen to great music live. In fact, going to Firefly would be my second concert I have ever been to, so that adds more to the excitement.

Along with Firefly and senior week, I want to delve more into my hobbies. I have always wanted to start filming short videos and editing videos, but I unfortunately never had the time due to schoolwork. I intend to start writing scripts, filming, and editing videos when the summer starts, because that's when I'll have more time to learn and start this process. In addition, I want to go the gym more often, because recently, I have been slacking off.

I also intend to travel more often this summer. Hopefully, my family and I could agree on going to a pretty cool country to visit in the summer, so that I can learn new cultures, their history, and their languages. My sister and I have been trying to persuade my parents to go visit Iceland, because...you know....it's Iceland! The culture, the language, and the beauty of that island nation is rich and vast. The natural, scenic view of that place is something I want to witness and experience, so hopefully, I can go there later this year.

The Political Process

Regardless of who you support for this upcoming Presidential election, we can all agree on one thing: it was a rollercoaster ride. The only way I can accurately explain this election in an easy way is to not explain it bluntly to you but to show it to you with one of the most powerful tools that was ever invented in the internet: the memes.
